Chet Baker was one of the Jazz greats. A trumpeter with a cool and mellow style. He made the unusual decision for a jazz musician to make albums with string sections recording several albums in this style during his almost 40 year career. This set features the first two full albums, Chet Baker and Strings (1954) and 50 Italian Strings (1959) plus a pair of bonus tracks. Both albums have been meticulously restored with many imperfections inherent in early tape recordings rectified. The Italian album receives a much-needed remix to put Chet's singing and playing front and centre for the first time instead of being relegated to one side in the original mix.
